The play-of-color effect in Ethiopian opals depends on the angle of incidence, the type, intensity, and spectral color of the incoming light, as well as the viewing angle. Depending on the lighting conditions, the play of color may appear stronger or weaker than shown in the photos, and the colors, number, and intensity of the flashes may vary. Please also note that different display technologies (LCD, VA, IPS, TN, LED, OLED, AMOLED) reproduce colors differently, which may affect the perceived shade and saturation.
Capturing the play-of-color effect in opals is extremely challenging. In reality, the flashes are usually sharper and the colors more vivid than they appear in photographs. All product photos are taken with a smartphone and are not digitally edited.
